Here, babies that are born before 32 weeks and/or with less than 1.5 kilos get a special follow up of their development until the age of 5. Laura falls under that category for her birth weight of 1.3kg. She had her first appointment of the sort on Monday for her 4 months adjusted age. It’s basically consults with a psychologist, a physiotherapist and a neonatal pediatrician.
I said it before, I really enjoy the checkups because the girls are doing so well but there’s also a small fear of being told something bad. So far so good though. Everyone was impressed with her and she’s showing no signs of developmental delays.
Next check up is at 8 months adjusted, then a year, then 2 year and then at 5 before starting school.
